Drawing from direct engagement with place, I collect images and materials
that hold a personal resonance and serve as points of departure for my
work. These elements are rooted in the belief that they are carriers of
memory and time, reflecting histories embedded, evoking themes of
sentiment, mortality, and continuity with the past.

My art is deeply intertwined with reflection. Poetry and my sketchbooks
serve as analytical tools through which fleeting perceptions are intertwined
with elements in the landscape, which can be amplified or reduced.
Colours are applied intuitively, operating as a means of articulating
subjective experiences of place and nostalgic attachment.

My process is layered and iterative, beginning with loose observational
sketches and cropped compositions of what intrigues me. Acrylics and
charcoal are occasionally incorporated before the application of oil paint.
Through this method, I explore notions of layering, duration, and
dimensionality. The paintings evolve through continual assessment,
negotiating a tension between freedom and control, perception and
    structure.

  • At its core, my work embraces loss and openness. Ongoing exploration is
fundamental to me, with painting functioning as a site of inquiry, release,
and transformation. Shape, colour, and form are my most expressive forms
of communication, allowing my passion for abstraction to articulate
    experiences that extend beyond representation.
