COLOUR PUNCH! 2021Every year Candice Berman Gallery introduces 'new' or previously undiscovered South African artistic talent into the art-world blood stream via the Turbine Art Fair platform. This year our New Blood exhibition is titled Colour Punch! 2021, comprising of four South African artists to be revealed closer to the time….
An iconic motif currently art is the portrait. This exhibition journeys through figurative portraits not referenced by reality but rather by psychological ego states of Parent, Adult and Child. How do these 'personalities' function in solving life's problems and challenges?
Carnival | Thirza SchaapCurated by Candice Berman
Plastic Ocean 2019, was the curated selection of 10 photographic images by Thirza Schaap and was launched for the first time in South Africa at the Turbine Art Fair 2018 with Candice Berman. This year, a more abstract selection of never before shown images continue the story started in 2019. Shcaap's primary concept is creating awareness of the effects plastic has on our oceans through the photographic depiction of retrieved, plastic debris form the shores of the South African coastline
Carnival is a curated selection of 15 abstract images from Thirza Schaap’s larger body of work, Plastic Ocean; whereby a playful consideration of the subject matter depicts the often farcical compositions created as well as the more sinister meaning of the pollution of our oceans and planet.
At Candice Berman Gallery, we view the world with a curious eye – a curiosity that drives our selection of artists. Our fascination is with the cultural and personal narratives behind the works, which the artists infuse into their expressions. We believe it’s our calling to support the development of our artists and create novel opportunities for their work to be shared with the country and the world.
We do custom & boutique framing to the 5 levels as prescribed by the British Fine Art Trade Guild and is also a qualified Guild Commended Framer. Our workshop is also the only Fine Art Trade Guild certified Advanced Conservation Framer in South Africa.
We do your framing to the Guild’s prescribed specification sheet either to the minimum level, budget level, commended level, conservation level, as well as museum level depending on customer requirements. If correctly framed and labeled with our Fine Art Trade Guild labels you will not have any rejections at international auction houses.
The Artists Solidarity Assistance Project is dedicated to our visual artists. The art proceeds will be split equally between 24 artists. Each archival inkjet image is an edition of 50, printed onto Hahnemuhle German etching paper.
Please support us in our solidarity initiative to raise funds for the 24 participating artists.
