Founded in Johannesburg in 2013, Candice Berman Gallery is a contemporary art gallery committed to expressionism in its many forms. Representing artists whose practices are shaped by emotion, colour, gesture, materiality and the expressive possibilities of the human figure, the gallery’s programme brings together expressive figuration, abstraction, constructed form and object-based practices.

Candice Berman Gallery works closely with its artists through focused exhibitions, publications, art fairs, commissions and carefully considered placements. Its purpose extends beyond presenting and selling art: the gallery develops critical context, nurtures long-term artistic careers and builds lasting relationships between artists, collectors and institutions in South Africa and internationally.

With its foundations in Johannesburg and an expanding presence in Cape Town, the gallery moves beyond the conventions of the traditional white cube, bringing contemporary art into conversation with architecture, design and the lived environment. At its centre is a clear belief: meaningful art is not passive. It carries the presence of its maker, provokes an emotional response and continues to reveal itself over time.

Custom Framing

We do custom & boutique framing to the 5 levels as prescribed by the British Fine Art Trade Guild and is also a qualified Guild Commended Framer. Our workshop is also the only Fine Art Trade Guild certified Advanced Conservation Framer in South Africa.

We do your framing to the Guild’s prescribed specification sheet either to the minimum level, budget level, commended level, conservation level, as well as museum level depending on customer requirements. If correctly framed and labeled with our Fine Art Trade Guild labels you will not have any rejections at international auction houses.

We can also finish any of our natural profiles to any size and finish required, and have recently perfected the round frame profile in any finish.

Large paintings are always a problem. We can now manufacture lengths of up to 5 meters if required.

We also cater for hotels and developments requiring specially designed mouldings and artwork or prints. From the inception we work with the architects or interior designers meeting their exact needs.

We work closely with numerous corporate and private collectors as well as established designers by assisting in curating art collections. We offer a full framing service, guide installations and aid in diversifying our clients collections.

Specializing in South African expressionist artists, she assists in building and curating art collections tailored to personal and corporate tastes. Her services include procurement and acquisitions, framing, and restoration, ensuring that every aspect of your collection is carefully managed and preserved. With her expertise, she offers personalized guidance to enhance and curate spaces based on individual artistic preferences.
