THE CREATORY | IN HOUSE ART LAB: In-house Art LAB at 223 Jan Smuts Ave

The Creatory at 223 Jan Smuts is an Urban Art Project dedicated to supporting and showcasing contemporary creativity. This dynamic space hosts artists-in-residence, offering them a platform to create, experiment and share their work.

Invited guest artists occupy the space as a working studio for a three-month residency, transforming it into a site of both making and display. Alongside works-in-progress, completed pieces are exhibited, giving visitors the opportunity to experience the artist’s style and evolving practice.

At the heart of The Creatory is a commitment to openness and engagement. Through our “Meet the Maker” initiative, the public is invited to enter the studio, connect directly with the artist, and witness the creative process unfold. This project also extends a welcome to artists who may not otherwise have access to a dedicated studio space, reinforcing our mission to nurture emerging voices within the urban art landscape.
