Better Days
This piece brings together symbolic archetypes in a way that deliberately resists a singular, fixed narrative. It invites viewers to take a leap of faith, encouraging them to interpret meaning for themselves through their own lens of personal mythology.
"Better Days" continues my ongoing studio practice, which is rooted in absurdist philosophy and its recognition of the universe’s inherent indifference. Through a touch of ironic humor, I aim to offer a small moment of escape, a pause from the relentless cycles of global conflict and diplomatic failure.
Using his whimsical faux-naïf style, and embracing wit along with frequent political commentary, Andrew Mogridge explores the more playful side of visual interpretation.
Better Days consists of two works: the original 2025 hand-tufted wool tapestry, created in collaboration between Andrew Mogridge and Shariffah Arewa, and a silkscreen edition of 25 that offers a related visual interpretation.
