In a way, our little
village behaved like the desert.
Severe headwinds always found me extremely lonely
as a child. I could always hear the sound of silence. Too many stories about
witchcraft and too many incidents of people dying in their sleep meant that I
was always terrified at night, always waiting for the sun to come out. In a
way, the light had always been my saving grace.
