Thabo Pitso transforms the humble gesture of a doodle, often scribbled on a school desk, into a distinctive visual language. Using ballpoint pen, highlighters and panel board, he elevates the immediacy of these everyday marks into works of striking presence.
His compositions recall the raw energy of youthful creativity, where imagination once spilled across classroom surfaces. Yet these are not nostalgic reproductions, they are re-contextualisations that breathe new life into a familiar visual vocabulary. Each mark carries the rhythms of improvisation and the unconscious, while asserting the sophistication of a form too often dismissed as insignificant.
By magnifying the doodle into an art form, Pitso reveals how small acts of creativity can open up entire worlds of thought, resistance and possibility.
