    In Between Impressions, Ross Passmore explores the expressive possibilities of the monotype, a printmaking process in which each impression exists as an original rather than as part of a conventional edition. Passmore has an established engagement with printmaking, including collagraph, but here the singularity of the monotype becomes central to the work. The process embraces immediacy, chance and the physical act of making, allowing each image to retain the evidence of its own creation.

     

    Passmore’s compositions emerge through layers of tone, texture and shifting form, occupying a space between representation and abstraction.
