Lamina Series, 2015 – 2016
“This series of paintings and prints reflects my interest in the shifting relationship between shapes, colours and textures. The content of these artworks are pure colour and form and do not represent anything to do with objective reality.
“My style of painting is intuitive, relying on my ability to react to whatever marks, smears, gestures or brush strokes I made previously. I paint, then react to what is in front of me, attempting to discover what the painting is trying to say to me. I work in this way on many paintings at the same time, operating with varying degrees of confidence and clumsiness and then I leave the paintings to rest for sometime, after which I revisit them and work on them some more until completing. As an artist I have always resonated with works that do not aspire to perfection in the traditional western way of thinking.”
